Configuring your USB Lighted Rocker Tabs

Dip switch layouts:

Switches 1-4 control the channel for each LRT board.

Switches 5-7 control the start number for the first rocker tab on the board.

Switch 8 determines whether the LRT board is in test mode or in operational mode. If the switch is up, then it's in operational mode. If it's down, it's in test mode.

Any changes to switches 1-7 will require the power to be cycled on the board. In other words, you will need to unplug the USB and re-connect the USB in order for any changes to take place. Switch 8 (local/test mode) does not require the power to be cycled when changed.

Channel Examples:

Each of the switches has a value when the switch is in the ON position. Add the values together in order to set the channel. The MIDI channel will be one number higher than the number of the dip switch value.

Each LRT board will need to have a unique combination of channel and starting number. This combination is set using switches 5-7 and must not be shared with any other board plugged into the same computer.

Each MIDI channel can have up to 8 LRT boards on it. This can be done by setting a different starting number for each board. If the board starts at 0, the first rocker tab will send 0 and the 16th will send 15. If the starting number is 32, the first tab will send 32 and the last will send 47.

Once you have set all of your boards on their unique channel/start number settings,  plug your LRT boards into their respective USB ports. Each device will have a unique name based on the channel and starting number.

So, if you have the board set to channel 2 with the starting number of 16, the name of the device will be "CLASSIC Lighted Rockers 02-016". If it was on channel 16 and starting number 112, the name would show up as "CLASSIC Lighted Rockers 16-112".

Once all of your LRT boards are plugged into their USB ports, launch Hauptwerk and go to General Settings > MIDI Ports > MIDI IN ports. Select all of the "CLASSIC Lighted Rockers xx-xxx" devices in the Console MIDI IN column.

Then click on the MIDI OUT ports tab and select all of the "CLASSIC Lighted Rockers xx-xxx" devices and click "OK".

To map an individual switch, stop, tab, etc, to an lighted tab, right click (or control-click if your right-click button is not enabled on your Mac) and select "Auto-detect MIDI/trigger settings for..."

Push the bottom of the rocker tab and then press the top of the rocker tab. The "Done" button will go active. Before you press the done button, make sure the "send matching MIDI output to control this MIDI ..." is checked and make sure the "MIDI OUT port" matches the board that the rocker tab you pressed is on.

If you're not sure if the device in the MIDI OUT port field is the same as the board with the rocker tab, you have 2 options:

a) Check the dip switch settings, as described above, to determine the device name for the board that holds the desired rocker tab.

OR

b) click done anyway and fix the port later by right clicking on the switch, stop, tab etc, and selecting "Adjust MIDI/trigger settings manually for..."

Check the MIDI IN port on the Primary input tab (in this case "CLASSIC Lighted Rockers 02-016")

And make sure that same device is selected in the MIDI OUT port of the Primary output tab
